NFL Super Wild Card weekend was AMAZING! I was a little skeptical about having so many games for the first round of the playoffs, but it was great to watch. The weekend began with a great game between the Colts and Bills, and ended with a stunning game between the Browns and Steelers. That’s right, I include the word stunning when talking about the Cleveland Browns. So what happens now? Kansas City and Green Bay sat back and watched all the other teams battle it out to see who would play them. And now its official. The stunning Cleveland Browns will take on the Chiefs, and the Los Angeles Rams will travel to a very cold Green Bay Lambeau Field. So lets try to pick some winners shall we. Here are the #HELLAFLAGRANT NFL Divisional picks.
Los Angeles Rams vs Green Bay Packers: I just want to note that I’m writing this article on Monday afternoon. The reason for saying that, is that I have no idea if Aaron Donald will play yet or not. We all know what Aaron Donald means to the Rams. He’s the best player in the NFL. He wrecks offensive lines. But I’m going to assume that he will play Saturday afternoon. The LA Rams have an incredible defense. Donald and Jalen Ramsey are the best at their position. On the other end, Green Bay is unstoppable at home. Led by Aaron Rodgers (probable MVP) and Davonte Adams, Green Bay will be a handful, no matter how good the defense is. I expect great plays in this game, but not a lot of them. Jalen Ramsey can’t stop Davonte Adams, but he can limit him. On the other end, the question of is Jarred Goff health is a big one. And back up quarterback Wolford was injured during the Seattle game. I see this being a low scoring game in the cold, and both offenses struggling to generate a ton of points. I’m gonna take UNDER 46.5 points.
Baltimore Ravens vs Buffalo Bills: If you listen to the #HELLAFLAGRANT Podcast, then you already know I have Baltimore going to the Super Bowl. The reason for it, they play old school football. Run, run, run the football, and great defense. I know the narrative behind Lamar Jackson. He doesn’t throw the ball very well. I get it, but no one can stop him running. And he is learning to play more in the pocket. Buffalo has kind of the same team. Josh Allen has been amazing this season, and Stephon Diggs and crew look to be the real deal. The Bills haven’t been great on defense this year. Granted they have beat some teams pretty bad, but this is the playoffs. In the Divisional round things get tight. I’m going to go with the better, defense and running game in Baltimore, because I don’t know if Josh Allen can pull off the win being a favorite 2 weeks in a row. I’m taking RAVENS +3.5 or RAVENS ML for some extra juice.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints: Tom Brady vs Drew Brees. Legend vs Legend. Offense vs Offense. Probably the most exciting game of the weekend. Look I know everyone things these quarterbacks are past their prime, but they aren’t playing like it. Tom Brady in his first year away from New England is having a monster year. Granted, he has ELITE wide receivers, but he still is getting them the ball with accuracy. Drew on the other hand has had a tougher year. At least in throwing the ball, But New Orleans has an Elite defense as well as Elite players on offense so its making it easier for him. Both teams have played 2 games already this season, with New Orleans winning both of them. Right now the spread is New Orleans -3, but I think the total is more appealing. Both these Offenses can score on anyone, and I know that the Saints play great defense, but they aren’t keeping Brady from scoring at least 24 points. At least not again. I’m going to take OVER 52.5 points, and hope for a thriller in Bayou Sunday night.
