Russell Wilson is one of the best Quarterbacks in the NFL. The former Super Bowl Champion is an 8x Pro Bowler, and also was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2020. Since 2012, Wilson has lead the Seahawks through constant battles on the field. He is one of the most respected and feared players in the NFL. So what is all this talk about him wanting to leave Seattle? Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reported that he is “hearing Russell Wilson’s camp has grown increasingly frustrated by the Seahawks inability to protect the 8 time Pro Bowler. He has been sacked 394 times in 9 seasons. This situation warrants serious monitoring.” Russell Wilson responded to La Canfora’s report on “The Dan Patrick Show” by saying, ” I’m frustrated I’m getting hit too much. I’m frustrated at that part of it, you know.” Russ went on to say that he wants to remain in Seattle BUT if he did leave… There are 4 teams he would consider. Well here are those 4 teams, and why they should try their best to get Russ out of Seattle.
Las Vegas Raiders: Now of course, I had to start off with my favorite team. But I honestly do believe it’s a great spot for Russell Wilson. From a football stand point, if he’s worried about getting hit too much, he won’t. At least not as much. The Raiders have one of the best offensive lines in football. Spearheaded by their Pro Bowl Center, Rodney Hudson and Left Tackle Trent Brown. Another thing Wilson lacks in Seattle is a running game. Raiders have that too. Josh Jacobs made his second Pro Bowl this year, after having another 1K yard season. Offensively the Raiders would be unstoppable with Wilson as their quarterback. His ability to drop passes in perfect spots would make their wide receiver group unbelievable. And Darren Waller… He might be an MVP with Russ throwing him the ball. Did I mention he would be living in Las Vegas??? The most exciting town in the entire world. His wife Ciara, could headline any show in town if she wanted to. Imagine this, Ciara is the headliner for the Wynn on Saturday night, and Russ headlines for the Raiders on Sunday. Doesn’t get any better than that.
Dallas Cowboys: America’s Team. The Star. Dem Boyz. Whatever name you want to give the Dallas Cowboys, they are still the premier franchise in all of sports. Hate it or Love it. The Cowboys last season were dreadful. But it wasn’t all their fault. They lost their quarterback (Dak Prescott) early in the season to injury. They continued to scramble using different QB’s to replace him, but nothing helped the situation. As offensively talented as they could be, they need a player who can run their system on all cylinders. Insert Russell Wilson. You add Russ to the Cowboy, in that terrible division, they will easily be front runners to go to the Super Bowl. All Dallas would need to get is a competent Defensive Coordinator, and it would be over!
New Orleans Saints: There isn’t much I can say about the Saints, that I haven’t already said about the other two teams. The Saints are just as good, if not better. They have offensive weapons galore, and a stingy defense. We all know how good they were last season, even with a declining Drew Brees. They would be twice as good with Russell Wilson. “Who Dat” nation would be a perfect fit for Russ, and the city would embrace him even more than Seattle does.
As exciting as the thought of Russell Wilson leaving the Seahawks is to come play for my team, the reality is, he will probably never play for another team. Players like that don’t get traded. Not unless the organization is dumb (Example: Houston Texans). Seattle will do everything in their power to appease Russell’s demands. He’s speaking up now because he wants things to change, not because he wants to leave. Sometimes you just got to light a fire under an organization’s ass. Now lets see if the Seahawk’s catch on fire!
Oh, and the Chicago Bears were the 4th team on Russell Wilson’s list. I didn’t mention them because any QB would be better than Mitch Trubisky!!!
