Warriors lose more than an NBA Championship.

Warriors are not NBA Champions. Saying that seems so weird to me now. For the last 5 years, Golden State Warriors fans have been spoiled like no other. I know that, because I am one. I went from watching them win only 15 games in an entire season, to them only losing 2 games at home in an entire season. Championships became our reality. And now its over. For the city Oakland, there will be no more games. Oracle Arena will be closed for basketball forever. The Warriors are moving across the bay into San Francisco. Although its only a 15 minute drive, to East Bay fans, it feels like its across the world. So what does this mean for the Warriors going forward? Is the “Dynasty” over?

Thursday, June 13th, 2019- Game 6 of the NBA FINALS. Toronto Raptors vs Golden State Warriors in Oakland, California. The Warriors are down 3-2. Going into the game, you knew that the only way to overcome the Toronto Raptors was for the Warriors to give a herculean performance. A championship performance. Kevin Durant, who is arguably the best player in basketball, ruptured his Achilles tendon in Game 5. So you don’t have him. Kevon Looney has an unknown chest injury and Klay Thompson is dealing with a hamstring problem. On the other hand, Kawhi Leonard is playing the best basketball of his career. I say all this, but as spoiled Warriors fan, I still thought we would win. Unfortunately it didn’t play out that way. The Toronto Raptors are now NBA Champions. Kawhi Leonard is the MVP. And all Warriors fans are still in disbelief.

The Golden State Warriors have more issues to address than losing a championship. As I mentioned before, Kevin Durant has a ruptured Achilles. A ruptured Achilles that happened in game 5 of the NBA finals. It ruptured after the Warriors rushed him back off of his calf injury he suffered against the Houston Rockets earlier in the playoffs. I’m not here to point fingers, but a lot of people are making the assumption that the Warriors did not disclose accurate information about Kevin Durant’s injury to the media. That they wanted the world to think that his injury was more of calf injury, apposed to an Achilles injury. By doing this, it would give them time to bring him back if needed. I don’t know if this is true, but either way, Kevin Durant now has a ruptured Achilles. What this means for the Warriors, and the rest of the NBA…. Kevin Durant wont be able to play next season!

Klay Thompson is Warrior. He has the heart of a champion. He gave his all in game 6. With 2:22 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Klay went up for a dunk and came down hard. He grabbed his leg, and you could tell by his face, there was a problem. You could tell right away it was his knee. Later it came out that Klay tore his ACL. What this means for the Warriors, and the rest of the NBA,,,Klay Thompson won’t be able to play next season!

Both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson are free agents this year. They both were expected to make generational wealth. Millons and millions of dollars were lost for both of them this past week. If you’re the Warriors do you pay them 200 million dollars each now? That’s what they were expected to get paid before this week. Can you afford to do it now, knowing that both of them wont be available to play next year. What does this mean now for Steph Curry and Draymond Green? There is so many issues that need to be addressed. Losing a championship is the least of the Warriors concerns now. The last game in Oakland was a disaster, but the problems going into San Francisco are monumental.
